Data-Driven Equity: Insights into Action

Deepen your understanding of data and learn how to use it to promote racial equity.

Advancing Pretrial Policy and Research is pleased to offer a free virtual training series on racial equity. Our team will guide you through the nuances of using data to foster equity in your jurisdiction. This is a hands-on session. We will combine the presentation of content with a practical exercise, giving you the opportunity to practice applying these strategies to real-world, data-related challenges. The training will be held on Wednesday, November 29, from 1 to 3 p.m. ET. Please apply by Wednesday, November 22.

About the Training

Dive deep into the world of data with us—and help make your system more equitable. We’ll cover the intricacies of gathering and using both qualitative and quantitative data. You’ll also gain insights into common pitfalls and challenges, enriched by examples from jurisdictions we’ve worked in. We believe in the power of real stories, and throughout the workshop we’ll share examples from our work in the field, providing you with actionable insights and lessons learned.

By the end of the session, you’ll not only grasp the importance of using data to inform changes in your policies and practices but also be equipped with additional tools and knowledge to use data as a problem-solving tool. Join us for “Data-Driven Equity: Transforming Insights into Action” to help address disparities in your pretrial system.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the training, participants will:

  • Understand how data can inform policy and practice changes to address racial disparities in your pretrial system
  • Leverage data as a problem-solving tool that can help stakeholders center racial equity
  • Learn through interactive exercises and group discussion how data disaggregated by race and ethnicity can help jurisdictions develop strategies and make policy or practice changes that address racial disparities in their systems.
  • Provide a supportive space where criminal legal system stakeholders and pretrial practitioners can share ideas, troubleshoot challenges, and identify resources to advance racial equity
  • Be familiar with APPR resources and the APPR Community
